Clayton Tugonon

An award-winning designer from the Philippines, Clayton H. Tugonon. A graduate of BS-Biology course who is also a Barrister. Who would have thought that he is the “main-brain” in his company, when he never had any formal education for furniture designing. Until now, he could still remember making some sketches in a piece of table napkins, used-papers, or anywhere else wherein he could draw the design that would just come out from his mind. He just followed his dream of having his own company and pours his heart out to work for his success. The name of his company is “Classical Geometry Trading”.

For the past 12 years, Clayton has able to maintain his company’s elegance and state of the art designs. The ingredients for its success are hard work, innovativeness, and creativity. As a result, he is a consistent recipient of several awards, both from international and local award giving bodies. To name a few, he won the best design in the year 2004 for “Slovakian Design Competition”; on the same year, he received the coveted “G-Mark” award for Design in Japan; he also won the 2006 Singapore International Design Competition – Open Category.

Recently, he was awarded with Presidential Citation from the Philippine government particularly from the office of the President.

Clayton is a member of “Movement-8”, the only recognized design group by the Philippine government.

At present, Clayton has evolved from stone craft to the use of rattan, termite mound and palm twigs. Several so-called “novice designers” attempted to copy the company’s designs, yet they all failed. He is considered as the “Author” for the phenomenal designs and exemplary ideas of his company, which is located in Tingub, Riverside, Pagsabungan, Mandaue City.
